You are invited to join the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition and the Vermont Folklife Center for the public Opening Reception of the Somewhere Between Place and Home exhibit!
The reception will be held on October 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Vermont Folklife Center, 88 Main St., Middlebury, VT.
The exhibit, led by VAHC community organizer Corrine Yonce, explores what it means when a primary residence is something other than fully home. It combines visual art with audio, manifesting a creative and engaging approach to documentary that highlights (in form as well as content) the human, and humane, aspects of sharing the experiences of others.
A large part of this exhibit will be work from the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition’s Voices of Home project. This project amplifies the voices of our neighbors living in affordable housing through conversations about the meaning of home and the importance of strong communities. The project has highlighted the experiences of residents have formed their own housing cooperatives, people who are formerly homeless, and individuals with severe physical disabilities.
Join us for the public reception and gallery talk with community organizer, artist and documentarian Corrine Yonce. Complimentary locally sourced food and drink, including beer, wine, craft cheeses, produce and more will be served.
