Job Posting: Corrections Housing Program Coordinator

The Department of Corrections has posted a new position for a Corrections Housing Program Coordinator. This position, Reference # 31174, is open to all State employees and external applicants.  General Job Description: Coordinating, technical and consulting work in housing for the Department of Corrections, involving assistance to staff and community based non-profit agencies involved in the provision of housing services to clients of the Department of Corrections. Activities include the development of a Department housing strategic plan, monitoring of grants to local agencies, and the provision of training and technical assistance to correctional facility and field staff.  All employees of the Agency of Human Services perform their respective functions adhering to four key practices:  customer service, holistic service, strengths-based relationships and results orientation. Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  2. Knowledge of grant administration and compliance monitoring.

  3. Knowledge of local and state agency involvement in the area of affordable housing and community development.

  4. Knowledge of the principals and practices of community development and housing programs.

  5. Knowledge of the principals and practices of public administration and programs management including accounting and program evaluation.

  6. Ability to effectively manage a number of concurrent work assignments.

  7. Ability to acquire, interpret, and apply information that affects housing policy.

  8. Ability to coordinate a variety of agencies and groups to achieve collaborative relationships.

  9. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Education & Experience: Education: Bachelor’s degree. Experience: Three years at or above a professional level in the field of Corrections or Community / Housing Development. *Note: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree on a six months for a semester basis. **Special note: Professional level is defined as at or above the CSS, Correctional Instructor or CFSS level of responsibility. Housing/Community Development would be at the grants administration level or above. Special Requirements: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.  In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office setting and in a variety of field situations, including correctional facilities, field offices, local government, and private housing agencies.
