JOB ALERT: NROC Community Builder

The board of the Northgate Residents Ownership Corporation (NROC) seeks a half-time Community Builder to provide governance support and training for board members, and to manage a program of community-building, including leadership development, at Northgate Apartments. Northgate is a 336-unit affordable housing community that is owned as a nonprofit controlled by its residents. Qualified candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to social justice and resident empowerment. Candidates must have at least one year of professional experience with board governance, group facilitation, training and/or community organizing, or cooperatives. The position calls for strong self-direction, multitasking, and time management abilities; excellent organizational and planning skills; exceptional verbal and written communications, and computer proficiency, including database management. Candidates must be available for evening and occasional weekend meetings, and should enjoy a community-oriented team environment. Publication design, website management, and financial experience are also pluses. Competitive salary offered commensurate with experience.
