HUD & VA team up to provide permanent homes to 20 homeless vets in Vermont

At last week’s National Coalition for Homeless Veterans annual conference, HUD Development Secretary Shaun Donovan and HUD Secretary of Veteran Affairs, Eric Shinseki, reported that HUD will be awarding $60 million to fund 9,000 new vouchers for homeless veterans nationwide. The vouchers will provide permanent supportive housing to homeless veterans. The new vouchers are a step towards Shineski’s goal to eradicate homelessness among veterans by 2015. There is currently an estimated 60,000 homeless veterans in the United States.
