Housing America's Older Adults — Meeting the Needs of an Aging Population

Earlier this week the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies and AARP Foundation released a new report on the housing issues affecting our nation’s growing population of older adults. Housing America’s Older Adults—Meeting the Needs of An Aging Population takes an in-depth look at how unprepared we are to face this demographic shift.  Access to safe and affordable housing is important for all, but as one ages there are other special concerns such as accessibility, supportive services, and location that also need to be addressed.  The infographic from the report shown below highlights some of the data found and how high housing costs impact lower-income older adults:
