Expansion at West River Valley Senior Housing

Writer's picture: David MartinsDavid Martins

The West River Senior Housing in Townshend is only $15,000 shy of its $2.8 million expansion goal. The 10,000 square foot addition to the facility, operated by the non-profit organization, Valley Cares Inc.,  will add 12 new assisted-living apartments to the facility, bringing the number of available units from 30 to 42. The project was made possible by generous local support, including the Holt Fund, which provides targeted funding to nonprofit organizations in the Grafton and Townshend areas. Additionally, over $600,000 was provided through CDBG funding, $500,000 from the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board and the HOME program, and over $1 million dollars through the Vermont Housing & Finance Agency. The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of October 2013. Link to Brattleboro Reformer article
