From the National Low Income Housing Coalition:
Thanks to the incredible advocacy of NLIHC members, allies, partners, and congressional champions, the COVID-19 relief bill signed into law on December 27 extends the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) eviction moratorium through January 31 and provides $25 billion in emergency rental assistance.
Now, we must work to ensure that these critical rental assistance funds are targeted to those most at risk of eviction and urge Congress to get back to work on comprehensive solutions. When the CDC eviction moratorium expires on January 31, tens of millions of low-income renters will be at risk of losing their home, and with it, their ability to keep themselves and their families safe and healthy. The Biden Administration must issue an Executive Order to extend and improve the moratorium through the duration of the pandemic.
