We encourage national, state, and local organizations to sign this letter.
It urges Congress to fund the Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) at no less than $1.7 billion for Fiscal Year 2022. This funding is urgently needed as housing and rental assistance needs skyrocket during the pandemic, while states and localities face budget shortfalls.
For over 25 years, HOME’s flexible funding has proven to be one of the most effective tools to help states and localities address their most pressing housing challenges. HOME funding has achieved these results:
Built and preserved over 1.33 million affordable homes
Provided direct rental assistance to more than 384,000 vulnerable families
Leveraged more than $4.50 in public and private funds for every $1 of HOME funding
Supported 1.9 million jobs
Generated $123.6 billion in local income
