2012 National Community Land Trust Conference: September 10-13th

From September 10 – 13th, the National Community Land Trust Network will hold its biannual National Community Land Trust (CLT) Conference, hosted by Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition member Champlain Housing Trust at the Hilton Burlington, Vermont, overlooking beautiful Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains.  The theme of this year’s conference is Transforming Communities through Innovation and Collaboration. It features over 50 high quality seminars and is drawing housing, land trust and community development practitioners from all over the country and all over the world. The conference focuses on CLT issues, but it is also rich in community development and organizational and affordable housing topics that will be of interest to a broad audience. The keynote speaker J. Otis Smith is renowned in the community development field.  Non CLT specific courses include: mergers, CDCs, urban agriculture, commercial development and management, partnerships with Habitat, race and equity, a film about organizing in Boston, East London’s CLT story and other non-US presenters.  In addition to the workshops and keynote address, there will be several site tours to highlight Vermont’s affordable housing successes, opportunities to sample Burlington’s diverse array of fine restaurants while networking with other conference attendees, and a sunset dinner cruise on Lake Champlain with live Brazilian music provided by Naquele Tempo.  Click here for one-page overview with further background info.  Click here for the conference website Click here for the sunset dinner cruise.
